About Us
Hiya, I'm Maddy!
I fell in love with skating in 2021, and from first stride, I was hooked! It brought me joy, purpose, and connection when I needed it most.
For four years, I built community in Colorado Springs through skate groups, classes, and events. That experience inspired me to start Solar Roller Skate Shop, with a mission to make skating more accessible and create welcoming spaces where underrepresented skaters, especially queer and female skaters like myself, feel seen and belong!
Newly relocated in St. Louis, MO, I’m seeking out new ways to support and empower the local skate scene. Wherever I roll, my mission remains the same: breaking down barriers and spreading the sunshine of skating.
I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s roll!
Our Values
-
Inclusivity
We believe skating is for everyone, and we strive to create a space where all skaters feel welcome, supported, and celebrated. We aim to provide visibility, representation, and a voice for those commonly overlooked within the greater skate community. No matter who you are, you have a place here!
-
Accessibility
We believe that skating should be accessible to everyone. That's why we provide free online educational resources to help you learn to skate wherever you are. We also offer sliding scales, free donated gear, and scholarship programs to remove financial barriers and ensure everyone has the opportunity to roll!
-
Education
We are committed to breaking down the process of learning to skate into bite-sized bits to make it simpler and less intimidating. With classes, lessons, and online resources, we offer the support and guidance you need to grow at your own pace!
-
Community
We know that skating is more than just a sport. It’s a form of connection that transcends barriers. We foster a strong, supportive community of skaters online and in Saint Louis who encourage one another, share experiences, and grow together on and off wheels!
