Community Skate Closet

We accept any skate-related gear that’s in safe and functional condition — whether it’s new or used and well-loved. If it helps someone roll, glide, or ride, chances are we can pass it on to someone who needs it!

We welcome donations for roller skating, inline skating, skateboarding, and more. Here's a list of examples:

• 🛼 Rollerskates & inlines (full setups or boots only)
• 🛹 Skateboards (decks and completes)
• 🪖 Helmets & pads
• 🛞 Wheels (any type)
• 🔧 Bearings
• 🧰 Skate tools & maintenance gear
• 🛑 Toe stops & jam plugs
• 🔩 Trucks, hardware, and bushings
• 🎒 Skate bags, pouches, or organizers
• 🧵 Skate leashes or carrying straps

Yes — while we’re super grateful for every donation offer, we can only accept items that are safe and ready to use (or just need a light tune-up). Here's what we can’t take:

• ❌ Helmets that have taken a hit (even just one impact makes them unsafe to reuse)
• ❌ Broken gear or items in unsafe condition
• ❌ Items that needs major repairs (small fixes are okay — but if it’s missing big parts or can't be ridden safely, we can't pass it on)
• ❌ Heavily rusted or warped hardware

If you’re not sure, shoot us an email! We’re always happy to let you know whether your gear is a good fit for the program.

Anyone is welcome to take gear — no explanations, no judgment!

The Community Skate Closet is here to help skaters get rolling, whether it’s your first setup or you just need a replacement part.

If you’re in a position where you can purchase gear instead, we kindly ask that you do — that way, we can save these donations for folks who could really benefit from the extra support. But we trust your judgment!

You can also grab something for someone else — a friend, a kid, a student, whoever! It doesn’t have to be for you personally.

Yes — the gear is 100% free!

We created this program to help make skating more accessible for everyone! Whether you're just starting out or replacing something worn down, cost shouldn't be the thing that holds you back from rolling.

If we’re shipping something to you, we do ask that you cover the shipping cost if you’re able. That helps us keep the program going and support more skaters.
But if shipping is a barrier, let us know — we’re happy to work with you on a sliding scale or alternative solution.

Nope! While we’re based in Colorado Springs, the Community Skate Closet is open to skaters all across the U.S. We’re happy to ship gear anywhere in the country, and we’re dreaming big, hoping to expand internationally soon!

If you’re requesting gear and you're outside of our local area, we just ask that you cover the cost of shipping if you’re able. And if you’re donating gear, we’ll cover the shipping to get it to us.

No matter where you roll, we want to help you keep moving!
